The polished vocal group Blue Steam were also known as Formula 12.
Their line-up included the singers Pierce McKoy, McDuffy Holman III, Frederick G. Duff, and Edgar Saunders. Blue Steam made one record that featured the sweet soul tracks “Where Is She?” and “I Want a Girl.” Said to feature the rhythm section of Kool & the Gang, this release came out on a New Jersey label.

Edgar Saunders is pictured above right with the Four Fellows, a Durham vocal group that also included Clarence Price, Butch Watson, and Robert Yates. Saunders had three brothers who were also musicians: Hoyal, Jerome, and Stanley.
